Dec.'s Book Reviews

Here are some of the books I have been reading and my thoughts on them....I also think you need to read books that interest you ~ for example, I don't like historical fiction usually and I am not much of a non-fiction reader.  Here are some books that fit in my favorite genres....

1. Happy Ever After - Nora Roberts
Yes it is sappy, and yes it is very predictable based on the previous books in the series.  At the same time, I cannot put a book like this down.  Nora builds such likable, believalbe characters.  I feel like I know them and I can pick up with their lives right from the last book.  I had gotten to where I didn't like her series because for example if you have three...there were alway 3 girls and 3 guys.  You could tell from the first book who had chemistry with who and who would end up with who...no suprises.  Yet at the same time I love the characters and usually finish the books in one to two days.  I cannot put them down even though I know what happens.

I did like this series better than some of her recent ones with magic and witchcraft...these were just good love stories.

2. House Rules - Jodi Picoult
Mixed reviews on this one.  I was drawn into the story at some point, but put it down often in the beginning.  I also didn't think it needed to be that long.  It went on and on at some points.  That being said it was a good family drama and court drama.  That combined with murder mystery made it interesting.  The characters were believable and you began to identify with them and want to know what happens with them.  So if it was shorter and drew me in sooner I think it would have been a favorite.  Definitely a good one I would recommend to friends.

Others from Picoult I have enjoyed: Handle with Care & My Sister's Keeper.  Haven't read 19 minutes...any good??

Currently reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo...had trouble getting interested; I love books that hook me in the first chapter or too, but once it got into the disappearance of Harriet, I am hooked.

That's all, wish I had read more in Dec., but with three boys the holidays can be a hurricane.

Happy Reading!
